Art Explosion 2020

The 2nd Annual Great Northern Art Explosion took place from September 4-20. 100+ works of art from local, regional, national and international artists were on display to compete for $8,000 in awards. Art Explosion attendance was upwards of 1,600 visitors, with 2,000 votes cast for the $5,000 Kirtland Community College People's Choice grand prize. Juror Jef Bourgeau awarded three artists $1,000 juror awards, sponsored by the Grayling Promotional Association.

The show included artists from around the state of Michigan, as well as Chicago, Boston, South Carolina, Florida, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Hawaii, as well as one international artist from Ibadan, Nigeria. Art Explosion is an open-ended exhibition, and featured a range of artworks, styles and mediums, including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, digital media, illustration, jewelry, textile art, pottery, glass, and installation.
