These fish spearing decoys are hand-carved from Eastern White Pine, Michigan’s state tree. The bag is hand-sewn. Recycled lead is added to provide weight and balance. Fins are cut from re-purposed galvanized tin. A letter “T” written on the underside of the decoy indicates that it has been tested to “swim” properly. Weight, balance, fins, and body shape all affect the swimming characteristics of a spearfishing decoy. The decoys are designed and crafted in the “Cadillac Style” to attract predator fish such as northern pike and muskellunge while fishing through the ice. We think they are equally at home on display as a décor accent.
