Join the crew of “Pere Cheney: Plague in the Pines” for the first Michigan screening of their compelling new documentary.

The legend of Pere Cheney has long been one of Michigan’s most talked-about ghost stories. Through close collaboration with the Crawford County Historical Society, this film presents a fresh and deeply researched perspective on the town’s haunted history. By separating fact from folklore, putting real names to long-muddied legends, and uncovering a historical discovery that changes everything, the documentary reexamines what we truly know about this infamous piece of Michigan lore.

The film was recently recognized as an Honorable Mention at Gettysburg’s annual Creature Feature Weekend and Film Festival.

Following the 80-minute screening, stick around for a 30-minute interactive Q&A with the filmmakers.

This special event also serves as a fundraiser—all net proceeds will be donated to the Crawford County Historical Society, whose support was instrumental in bringing this project to life.
