As a volunteer at the Medilodge Nursing Home in Fort Gratiot, MI, to make the residents happy, I would go out and take photographs of their interests, flowers in the garden, birds, beach scenes, wildlife or landscapes. I would then have these photos enlarged and deliver them to the residents to decorate their rooms.
The gentleman that did the enlargements was a photographer and noticed my photos and thought it was time for me to take a leap from a “point and shoot” camera to something more sophisticated and pursue my passion with better equipment. With his encouragement I did just that and have not set the camera down since.
My main interest is photographing birds and wildlife. My passion for photography is best summed up by Karl Lagerfeld, who stated: “What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.”
